The Main Street & The Village (formerly the Yonge & Church St. Tour)
Yonge Street has been referred to as Canada’s main street. It is Yonge Street that divides the city of Toronto into east and west. It is Yonge Street that people come to when they protest, when they celebrate, and, when they just want to be in the city.
On this tour we will start at the intersection of Yonge and Bloor. We will learn about the historic significance of the area. We will walk through Toronto’s colourful gay village and hear many of the stories of the struggles that the community faced over the years, and the bonds which have held this community together through some tough times. You will also see how this community thrives and embraces its diversity.
The tour then heads to the Maple Leaf Gardens, once known as the ‘Taj Mahal of Hockey’, it is now one of the most iconic grocery stores in the world. You can pick up a snack before the tour continues down through the hustle and bustle of Yonge Street. We make a quick stop at Yonge Dundas Square with its giant video screens, and move to the Eaton’s Centre and its 300 plus stores.

It was a pleasure learning about the beautiful city of Toronto from Dave. He was extremely knowledgeable and personable on our tour and I recommend him to anyone visiting or moving to Toronto! We did it at the very start of our trip and are glad we did!
